Washington DC Criminal Defense Attorney
Jason Kalafat is an experienced criminal defense attorney who has defended clients at all levels of local, state, and federal courts. He has a perfect 10.0 rating by AVVO and has achieved the AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Kalafat began his criminal defense practice in 2002 as a Deputy Public Defender in the nation's fourth most populous county, where he concentrated on felony and misdemeanor cases at the trial level, including DUI, extreme DUI, felony Aggravated DUI, and vehicular homicide offenses. In 2005, he joined the prestigious boutique criminal law of Kimerer& Derrick, where his practice concentrated on defending misdemeanor and felony DUI cases in court and before administrative agencies.
Mr. Kalafat graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 2000 where he participated in the Moot Court program. He has been a guest speaker at the Arizona Public Defender Association annual conference, and has presented on various legal topics at the Arizona State University College of Law and the Phoenix School of Law. He received his bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in Philosophy in 1997 from West Virginia University, where he was the 1997 WVU Arts & Sciences Graduate of the Year.
